When you log your period dates, symptoms, and basal body temperature into Lilly Tracker, you're entrusting us with deeply personal health information. We take that responsibility seriously. This post explains exactly what happens to your data — and what doesn't.
Your cycle data is stored in the app's private storage area on your phone. Other apps on your device cannot access it. All core features — period tracking, ovulation prediction, symptom logging, BBT tracking — work fully offline without sending any data anywhere.
For an additional layer of protection, you can enable PIN Protection from Settings → Period Data. Once set, the app requires a 4-digit PIN every time it resumes from the background. If someone picks up your phone, they cannot open Lilly Tracker without the PIN. There is no limit on incorrect attempts, but there is also no recovery option — if you forget your PIN, the only way back in is to reinstall the app (which erases local data unless you have cloud backup enabled).
If you enable Cloud Backup from the side menu, your data is synced to our secure servers. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS. Once on the server, it remains encrypted.
Cloud backup is optional and entirely your choice. Without it, your data stays only on your phone. With it, you can sync across devices and restore your full history if you switch phones. To set it up: open the side menu → Backup → Sign Up with your email and password. A green checkmark in the side menu confirms backup is active.
This is the most important point: Lilly Tracker does not sell, rent, or share your personal health data with third parties. Your period dates, temperatures, symptoms, moods, notes, and birth control logs are yours. They are not used for advertising targeting, not shared with data brokers, and not accessible to third parties.
The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to help us improve Lilly Tracker. These reports include:
These reports do not include your period dates, temperatures, symptoms, personal notes, or any other health data. They are anonymous and used solely to fix bugs and improve the app.
Lilly Tracker's free version displays ads through Google AdMob. The ads you see are based on general device identifiers and ad categories, not on your health data. Advertisers do not have access to your cycle information.
For users in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland, the app displays a consent dialog on first launch asking whether you agree to personalized ads. If you decline, only non-personalized ads (based on context, not behavior) will be shown. You can change your choice at any time from the side menu by tapping "Revoke consent."
To remove all ads permanently, purchase the "Remove Ads" upgrade from within the app. This is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play.
